Thinking about water cooling my cards as the noise is getting a bit much. I'm not bothered about my cpu. I have a corsair carbide 500r which could probably get 2 radiators in, question is..do I just need to get a water cooling kit and get some VGA blocks, and could I water cool 2 or more cards from 1 water cooling kit.

Any suggestions welcome.

Cheers, :)

And which ones do you want to put in the 500R?
Hope you've got a dremel and are willing to go to town on the case :) If not, you ok with an external rad?

Eventually I want to get 3 cards on each board, I can make shift something for 2 of the boards, crates/baskets but with water cooling built in as they have to stay inside (no garage) so they need to be quiet as well, GF is moaning about the noise.

At the moment I have 7990, 290 and 280x in my case, noise and temps have shot up!

I don't mind making a few modifications, mounting rad externally etc.

This is gonna get expensive...

Noise/performance and ease of setting up wise, I reckon you're best to grab a few Phobya 1080 external rads and a whole bunch of decent, quiet 1200rpm fans (+splitters etc) as those rads have a fairly low fpi.

You'll have a bugger of a time finding a good 7990 block right now, but the 290's/280x shouldn't be too much hassle apart from maybe finding blocks that line up with each other on different cards. We'll figure out that part later :)

I'm gonna go take the dog out and have a think about getting a spec together.

It's a EK-FC7990, although it says it's for PowerColor/VTX3D/Club3D series cards, but I thought all 7990 were reference anyway?

No mate, that's for the unofficial 7990's that came out before the proper official ones like yours :(

The ocuk shop page is ridiculously slow right now. Keep getting timeouts....

Yeah me too.

Could I just get 2 universal blocks and place them over each core on the 7990?

My 7990 fan just shattered against the backplate of card below, lost 2 fins :(

You could, but it would be a bit of a pain in the arse what with all the extra heatsinks and tube routing.

Hang on, let me see what I can find :)

Right, here's a basic proposal.
I haven't bothered with specific fans/fittings/tubing etc yet as the rest needs to be finalized.

You could use an appropriate EK/Heatkiller bridge for the multicard setups if you wanted.
I went with the quad 180mm fan option for simplicity and possibly less noise. You'd want 4 silverstone 180mm fans for each rad and they're around £20-25 a pop, so perhaps 120's may be a better option?

The EK XT 360 rad in the 500R was picked for it's combination of size, price and fpi which would let you get away with lower rpm fans than an EK PE360 for example.
You will need to modify your case to fit it. See my build log for more info :)

Obviously, you'll have to shop elsewhere for a lot of this stuff.

No probs :) This is just one way of doing it tbh. I figured it was the most simple and effective solution.

You set up your Trust account. I sent a message which goes to email that you specified when you set it up :)
