So I'm not actually a biker, but racing my Caterham in the rain can be a very wet affair without a roof or windscreen. A number of people in the paddock have bought motorbike waterproof one piece overalls and boot covers as they tend to be good value, robust and keep the water out during a race / sprint / hill climb / track day

All in one is important as others have said that 2 piece tends to ride up and separate when sat in a snug seat with a HANS device, harness etc.

Any recommendations for good value one piece overalls (sub £100 if poss)?

Best waterproofs I ever has was a Lewis Leathers one-piece. Cost about £45 back in the day, so probably around £60-ish, if they still do them.
The second best were the one-piece sets from Lidl and Aldi, which didn't last more than a couple of years in heavy use, but only cost a fiver so you could buy 2-3 pairs each year and be sorted.

Never had any luck with bike coveralls - though some people swear by Navy kit from surplus stores, aparently decent performing kit without the huge expense

Thanks chaps. Seems Lewis Leathers doesn't do rain coveralls any more. Will keep an eye on the Aldi middle aisle!

You always seem to get a wet crotch matter how good your gear lol.

Was always a wet arse for me - even with waterproof textiles on, and a waterproof coverall as well. Gave up in the end, I wear waterproof hiking trousers under my textile bottoms now - works a treat.

The BMW Prorain is one of the best I have tried. It is by no means perfect as condensation will always be an issue with any watertight garment, but it will not let any rain in. I’ve had a puddle sitting in my crotch area for a couple of hours and not one drop got through. The hood which goes under the helmet also stops water from getting in at the neck.

For a more budget friendly option, the IXS Orca is a good shout. FC Moto have it on sale ~£25 down from ~£73.
