Waterproof winter gloves - recommendations please

Spada Enforcer WP gloves great gloves ive used them fine in -2C for 60mins at NSL. any colder and your gonna need to do shorter running times or heatead grips.

i have used them down to -8C but that was hands on engine or exhaust at every traffic light/ junction lol

So true. Lidl gloves are good enough for taking your test with, and occasional use, but the old maxi of "buy cheap, pay twice" is applicable for any bike kit.

I replaced my Lidl gloves pretty rapidly after the first few winter rides, they just weren't cutting the mustard.

Yeah I bought them as a cheap pair, always knew I'd have to get some proper ones when winter hit, they'll do as a reserve pair though.
 
That's a bit over budget through, surely ;)

Gonna order a pair of Richa Cold Protect GTX gloves myself, my local shops don't stock them so can't try them on, but my Richa Hurricane GTX gloves in size large fit me like a glove :D so fingers crossed they are the same sizing for both models of glove. They've kept my hands nice and dry through the summer downpours, even through 40 minutes of solid painful torrential rain.

Sportsbikeshop seem to have a decent returns policy (free returns) so will probably order from them, I'll try and get them to price match getgeared on the Furygan Duke textile trousers I'll also be ordering :)

If you do an insurance quote through mcn you get a £10 eVoucher for Sportsbikeshop as well which landed in my inbox about an hour after running the quote.

Though just noticed the prices on both get geared and sportsbike shop have gone up to £200 for the Furygan Duke, from £175 the other day. :(
 
FYI Unkle - if you're still ordering the Knox Zero2 gloves.

Ordered a pair of Knox Zero 2's from sportsbikeshop at the weekend, they were delivered today. I measured my hand, came out at 220mm which according to the knox sizing guide, is a medium. I also tried on a medium Knox Handroid in a shop which was snug but fitted well, and a large Knox Handroid pod (the short version) which was a little too large. So, I went for the medium Knox Zero 2, and...

Couldn't even get my right hand in the glove!! :( My left would go in but could only just bend it, not enough to even grip the bars, so they've been returned (with sportbikeshops awesome free returns system - online rma, print shipping label, take to UPS drop off shop, job done!) and I should have my replacement LARGE gloves on Friday. :o:D

So yeah, they run a size smaller than they say, they did seem really nice though, no hesitation in exchanging them, not too thick on the padding/insulation but seemed like they would be nice and toasty. Loads of protection too unlike most winter gloves. Smelt nice too :D

somat may be off im a medium as well and got the knox orsa for the summer, snug fit but i could bend me fingers.
 
The handroids and orsa are both summer gloves so maybe they don't take into account the thermal lining? Anyway, no way in hell I could get my right hand into the glove, my left hand is a little smaller, but even that was tighter than a ducks arse :D
 
I got me a pair of the Arctic Drystars mentioned on page 1. Not bad. Quite comfortable after a bit of breaking in and a good fit. Not all that warm though, I've found. Can even get a bit chilly just on a few mile long ride in the evenings over the last week or so. A bit of water can seep through too, at least in heavier rain. Definitely an improvement over the cheapish Oxford things I had been wearing in any case.
 
So, got my replacement size L knox zero 2 gloves... and these may have to go back too :mad:

They fit fine everywhere (slightly long thumb when off the bike but fine when gripping the bars) apart from when I'm reaching for the levers, they're putting pressure on the webbing between my 2nd and 3rd fingers, so much so that just sitting on the bike and trying to reach for the clutch for a couple of minutes results in massive pain and redness right between those 2 fingers - I'd be in agony after an hour on the bike :(

Will they stretch much after some use? My right hand is slightly larger than my left and it's less of an issue on that glove, so it can't be that they're too small, or it'd be the other way round. The next size up would be far too large.

FFS all I want is some decent winter gloves - why can shops not ****ing stock them so I don't have to waste my time guessing what will fit!? :mad:

No local shops have the richa cold protect gloves in stock either.
 
Just noticed this.. (cheers for the heads up TallPaul)

I've held off buying them due to the recent mild weather.

I got two pair of Knox gloves, the Handroid and Oryx. Both are XL. I looked on sportsbikeshop and used the guide to measure up for the Zero 2s, came up as medium, I don't think so! I was going to order one size larger as I have a set of KIES heated inner gloves and wearing those I can just about get the Handroids on, but it's very uncomfortable. So XXL winter gloves for me.

The only trouble I find with Knox fitment is the length of the middle two fingers, they cut in on the tips and after prolonged use make the ends of my fingers sore, they're not as bad now, but when new I had to keep pulling over and pull them away from my fingers.

I'm hoping the Zero 2s would be a bit more forgiving with the winter lining and all. Does sound like, from your experience anyway, that it's going to be hit and miss! :(
 
Hey Participant, how are you finding the new gloves?

Do you ride with heated grips? Apologies if you mentioned this previously!
 
Hi, the new gloves are great so far. Perfectly dry and if anything, too warm at the moment (though it's been fairly mild recently).

They're also really flexible for big gloves, making control easy.

It's too early / warm to say exactly how effective they are, but so far, against a sample size of one, they seem great :).

I don't have heated grips by the way.
