Hmm are cpus waterproof? just had a massive leak from my nb n water all over the cpu n its socket!!! think the board is broke, will the cpu be alrite?

will the board dry out and work (though im sure it didnt post b4 w/c it anyway!)

well i would leave it to dry for a very long time a week maybe? or get a hair dryer just make sure you don't melt some of the plastic lol. Are there any burn marks? The CPU might be ok since it has the heat sink on unless the water got into the pins on the socket.

Your best bet is to leave it to dry and hope :) if it doesnt work maybe RMA it?

remove the motherboard battery as fast as possible

i had a motherboard fall into a sink of water, it had cpu & ram plugged in at the time (dog pushed it in :D )

3 weeks in airing cupboard and all components are working fine now, in my brothers pc

Thats good to hear, though all i am wondering is why the mobo, ram and cpu was near a sink of water in the first place :D

Back to the topic, all you can do is try it really. I left my phone in my pocket during a water fight last summer, didnt realise for about an hour, then saw that it has switched off due to the water. I took it all to pieces and left it out in the sun to dry for a few hours and it worked perfectly after that.

i was leak testing my watercooling, and left it balancing gingerly as i went to answer the phone..

this is the sink we usually make the dog food in, so my dog was excited that i was using the sink, and expected some food

:D

I dropped a CPU into my fish tank once. Had the black plastic bit on the bottom.

Dried it with a towel and some tissues wacked it in my PC and it worked fine. :)

well the sytem was booting up when it suddenly went, and thats when i noticed the nice puddle of green coolant all over my desk and coming out fast, the whole cpu socket must have been covered along with a few of the vrms, cpu was in under the water block so defo got wet i guess, iv also tried to power up many times tday after leaving it to dry for the weekend, also tryed on the day it leaked! oops bad idea yea? RMA i could but wouldnt they see its water damage apon inspection! 3 weeks or even a week v long

it won't dry out if it's just in the case, you'll have to clean it with cotton buds and leave in airing cupboard

since you've tried powering up a few times, i'd suggest the motherboard is probably shot now

ram & cpu might well still work..

any idea how the leak started? (cracked block? bad tubing?)

hope you get it sorted :)

seal around the underside of the bards had split and come away, must have been leaking for sometime bcuz i lost half a litre out of a little gap!
RMA the board then i will lol i hope my cpu is alrite though i really do!!!
