Waterproofing a fleece

I wonder just how good that Nikwax stuff really is, maybe for a light drizzle once, but really I would take doofskis advice and take a lightweight waterproof jacket. You could end up ruining a nice fleece by putting Nikwax on it!
Paramo do lightweight jackets that are completely waterproof using Nikwax. I have one but paid £250 for it. There are supposed to be a number of waterproof nano coatings available that are supposed to Waterproof anything but I have never tried them.

There has been a pattern recently of new users signing up with a real name, bumping an old thread and including a link to a product of some kind. A cynic might think there was some kind of SEO going on... ;)

Actually it's highly plausible since its happening a lot recently plus, traffic and throughput on the forums is definitely slowing right down. There used to be pages of new threads daily; now more often than not, threads from yesterday or longer will still be on the front page of several of the sub forums inc GD.

I suspect the focus is focus is to generate topics and discussion.

This is what has happens where nothing controversial or slightly outspoken can be said on public forums anymore.

Yeah I specifically bought myself a waterproof (hard shell? ) without a lining specifically so I can wear it when it's warm or cold over a fleece or not.

For me, a fleece is a for warmth
A water proof is a waterproof.

I also wouldn't get a lined waterproof as more than likely ill get to hot when it's not cold but wet

superhydrophobic sprays are good and dont change the feel of the material.
however, there downside is they don't last long and need reapplying extremely regularly and don't survive a wash, whatever the company says.

however, they are so mind-boggling good.

i still want to see the built in superhydrophobic materials come more common place in all types of clothes, apparently, they last much longer. as log as they lasted a year, I would happily change wardrobe that often if it worked.

I use nikwax (2 part tech wash) to waterproof my motorcycle clothing. Don’t see why it wouldn’t work on a fleece, but then I’m not sure why you’d bother :p
