Wattage calculator

Hi,

I put all my components into this:

And it recommends a minimum of 365w, with a recommendation of 415w.

However, I just bought a plug-in wattage meter and while playing TF2, I'm averaging about 200w according to it.

Do these online calculators over-estimate the wattage requirements or is my meter under-reporting?

They give recommended wattage PSU needed rather than actual usage. A 400w PSU will give you a little leeway for adding extra bits and bobs.

I'm just wondering whether my corsair ax860 is enough for a 4790k and r295x2? The calculator says 810w recommended.

You will be fine with the Corsair unit

they do over estimate a bit..but you dont want something at its limit.....look at the review sites which report noise against load....if you buy a more expensive/efficient psu it will be quieter at 40% load.

Pretty sure on the page you can change tdp percentages.. I think its automatically on 90% total tdp possible so very likely its just over estimating
