Hi all,

Been a while since I've posted in here, been in motors for ages.

Anyway, I want to build a new system and therfore want a new case. Thing is, I need this computer to be done on a budget and it needs to last a while. Having bought a Coolermaster 110 at the begginning of the year and having just finished restoring it, I dont want to be paying out for a TJ07 or anything - it also hasnt got to be eATX and I'd actually like a smaller computer for a change, hence ATX with an Opteron.

So, Ive been thinking about a Wavemaster. Now I know the airflow is bad, but is it really that bad? Also, its either this or a V1000+. After seeing Yewen's case it looked awesome, but im not sure whether I like it more than the Wavemaster.

And finally, just to be difficult, what are the chances of getting a Limited Edition Blue Wavemaster! That's the one I'd have!

Thanks in advance for any input. :)

Quite easy to get hold of, but are nothing to special in blue.

I have 2 silver ones in bits at the moment, the cooling is worse than a 201 chassis due to the lack of the intake, although easily up to running any system, SLI etc just expect it to be toasty. Just remember it is safe to run processors at 70deg (or whatever the manufactureres say they are safe to) and you will be fine.

It can run anything, although at what some would consider high temperatures, 40deg for the case temperature is nothing to be alarmed at in my opinion. :)

V1000+ though, or you may want to look at the Lian Li S80 as that is what I will be trying out next. :)

if you wanted you could remove the fans at the front and use a dremel to either cut out some gaps in the holes or a bigger drill to enlarge *** holes, this apparently improves cooling.i havent done this, but i have a silver wavemaster and i am constantly thinking up ne stupid schemes to get it to run cool, its like a constant battle lol, how ever, it is a damn fine case.

Hmmm, I like the V1000+, but not really sure if I want to move away from Coolermaster. Processors getting abit hot isn't what worries me, its items such as the harddrives!

Wont be running an SLI system (well, not at first), but will be quite a good spec. What makes you say it's nothing special in blue Yewen? I've always prefered silver, but quite like the idea of a painted case for a changed.

Not sure I could stand being worries about temps all the time though Eliot, would drive me nuts!

Hard decision... :o

The temperatures are not a issue for me, if its stable its fine! :)

(Yes I have ran PC's with case temps the scary side of the 70's :D)

You can always get a blowhole put in the bottom of the case, under the hard drives. They will be cooled adequately, but just about as its a 201 chassis with the front blocked in!

In blue, I do not know it just is not as special as I think it should be. Get one anodised. :p

a good way to get air flow is to either, cut a large hole in the base i.e take out the bottom or to drill hundreds of tiny holes in the base this can look pretty cool to with lights in the case it glows out the bottom :)

I have a Wavemaster, and in my opinion it's a really decent case.

Yewen offered me allot of advice when I was going through the "I really need to quieten it down" phase. Temperatures have never been an issue with me.

Replaced all three fans with Akasa Ambers, and replaced my 7800GT stock cooler with a VF900.
All fans are also on an Akasa fan controller that fits in the front floppy bay (no, it doesn't interfere with the door, which was a bonus!) which also has 2 x USB 2.0 ports
The fans are on slow almost all the time. Bear in mind I'm playing allot of Oblivion and BF2 these days due to a study break. That combined with the great weather we are having haven't caused me any problems.
I'll post back later with some temp readings

If you want Alu_ATC to work out the temps of the wavemaster just run your 110 without any front fans, then the wavemaster will be cooler than that. :)

Easiest way to find out, as I said though they can comfortably handle any rig you stick in them keeping it stable. Hotter than a Eclipse but really the temperatures are just for bragging rights. :p

Hmm, will be fairly warm then. Id have thought decent CPU, graphics card and hard drive coolers should keep the vital components cool, all of which I will be using.

I think ill probably still opt for the Wave, despite the lovely V. Either that or a Silverstone Sugo... totally different rig required, but it's very, very tempting.

Sugo will bore you after a month or so. Great cases but they lack that something; if you own a Sugo you will get what I mean.

As I have said before, you could hold a SLI rig, just be prepared for case temps of 40, which is 25 below what AMD rate the X2's stock cooler to operate fine at. :)

Hmmm, okay. Can't really believe though Yewen that you're convincing me to go fora modern CM over a Lian-Li, even if the Wavemaster was designed by the ATC group :D

I am not a Lian Li fanboy though, ATC-Tek, well, now. :p

Lol, keep telling yourself that Yewen :p .

One thing I am thinking of doing if I buy a Wavemaster is to remove the feet and put wheels on. Not sure how I'll do this though, or where I will get the feet!

Depends how high of an overclock you want to achieve.
Lower temps are generally better and will also improve longevity

Tom

Doubt it on a hot day at stock.

A case temperature of 45 will not cause any trouble; if it does then your cards are not fit for purpose and you should get some new ones on warranty.

So difficult, I really am having trouble on this one. Just re-read your review on the V and I just love the look. Also like the idea of a break from a door, something Ive had on cases for a long time now.

Then a blue wavmaster comes in, argh! :( Buying both is NOT an option.

Haha, only your choice to make! :p

A change from a door is nice as you say. The wavemaster is what you are used to while the v1000+ is a new angle to they cases you have used up until now.

201 chassis or go completely new.
