I was wondering if anyone has used both and if one is better than the other or nothing to choose between them? I'd be particularly keen to know if one is quieter than other.

Thanks

The IronWolf's are quite noisy. Don't discount Toshiba, I have some N300 drives are they are very quiet.

I have 4 10 TB IronWolfs and 3 Toshiba 14TB N300 drives.

My budget can’t really stretch beyond an 8tb drive and it seems you have to get at least a 12tb drive to get the helium sealed quiet version of those Toshiba drives.

Ah, wasn't aware, I can't speak for the non-helium drives. The IronWolf's are louder than the WD Reds I replaced for sure. They're about 3 years old now so not sure if Seagate have made any improvements. The reason I went with the Toshiba was for noise and I've had 3 of the 4 drives show SMART errors and I've had them replaced.

Our different perception could be down to spin speed. I'm using the smaller capacities so they're all 5,400rpm but yours are all 7,200rpm.
