WD500gb in this week only

well my drives came without any jumpers and only had SATA power connectors on them so make sure you have a couple of them to hand.
Are you saying that these don't have the legacy Molex 4-pin power sockets?

Anyone confirm?

All WD -KS drives should include Molex power connectors, mine certainly did.
Are yours the KS or the AAKS?

The 5000KS certainly have the Molex connectors but wanting absolute confirmation as to whether the 5000AAKS models do/don't.

Just so we're all sure we're talking about the same thing, the Molex connector is the one ringed below:

Anyone possibly post a picture of their WD5000AAKS drive?

Would assume that if there's no Molex connectors then the drives won't be able to take the WD 'SecureConnect' cables which would be a real shame in my book.

sorry phil, i can't stop myself from spreading 'poison' to others!!! haha

Cant shoot the messenger mate ;)

I need 5 for my server and a spare basically.. I was thinking of getting 400Gb models, but I think the 500Gb models are just too damn good a price!! :)

Will there be other/better offers on these size drives again?? If so I'll keep hold of my Server with its drives at the moment and get some others at a later date.. I'll be using my AM2 setup then instead of my 64 3200+ :)

sorry phil, i don't work for OcUK. So, i won't know if they'll have such a gd deal again.

But if i were you, i would just go for them and scrimp and save for the upcoming weeks. it should be worth it because at that price, its difficult to even buy a 320gb hdd!!

Stop tempting me into spending more money than I've not got!! :p ;)

I'm selling a complete rig AMD 64 3200, 1Gb, 6800GT, 2 200Gb Drives, CD-RW and DVD Rom, case with Antec True Power 480W PSU etc.. I'm hoping that will cover the cost of the hard drives...

Well got 3 of these drives on Saturday and already noticing they are performing well, excellent buys imho......

2.72tb of drive space. what a greedy mofo! I used to think I had a lot with a 250gb and a 120gb :(

No molex connectors

Hi guys,

My 500GB WD5000AKS drives arrived today. Just to let you know that none of them have 4-pin Molex power connectors so you have to use SATA power connectors with these puppies.
