WDS and Recovery Partitions?

Hi folks,

Been tasked with looking into using WDS for our images etc, and I have a quick question. Is it possible to create a Recovery Partition through WDS at all?

Sorry if this is a silly question, still learning the ropes with WDS in general

You can create an answer file for use with WDS which will create any partitions you like. I'm a bit confused why you would create a recovery partition though? The purpose of WDS is to quickly deploy a system image, so why would you also have a recovery partition?

Thanks for the reply.

Its mainly for the benifit of our customer, we want to have a recovery partition so if any problems our customers can quickly restore, like dell/hp laptos etc.

So are you going to be deploying a fairly basic desktop image, rather than something for your own network?

Yes you can do this, you need to look at the Windows Pre-Installation documentation at http://oem.microsoft.com. There is a whole document on producing a hard drive based recovery solution (recovery partition/image).
