WDTV or Popcorn hour

Not sure where best to post this but I'll stick it here for now :)
I am interested in getting a media player and it seems these are the 2 most popular.
which one would be the most versatile , I mean support the most different file types etc.
in short which one should I buy
 
the WDtv live is just an amazing box , every file type (and i have loads !!) that i have tried just works (apart from real video but who uses that nowdays?) it also supports every subtitle file type you can think of , it really is just stunning , (it loads and plays a 6 gig mkv with embebed subtitles in 1 second ) i cannot imagine how i lived without it !
 
feel free to email me but i would i have to recommend a popcorn hour over anything else on the market atm

bought a wdtv and returned within 5 hours, bought a playonHD and returned after 3 days

but it does mostly depend on what you want from the player, if you want the ability for HD Audio then the playon and wdtv live will disapoint you, and most likely lag on full quality rips from blue-ray sources

the popcorn hours down side atm is it cant play hd sound from MKV's but that is comming in a future update as it's a software issue rather than hardware

my prime bit of advise i can give you is lots of research to make sure you get the one you need
 
well i am mosly looking for hd support. Bluray rips etc and it seems they will both do that ? But if neither support hd sound at the moment what sound do you get when playing say a blu ray rip ? Also do they both have optical audio out
 
not used the others but have a popcorn A110 and highly recommend it

plays anything you throw at it and yes it has optical out
 
the popcorn hour will out put all HD audio formats via hdmi and will down mix to dts or dobly through optical, i use an a-200 to play all my blue ray back ups from, i rip them into folder/M2TS, .MKV will output dts or dolby digital but due to a bug wont output HD audio for the moment

the playon hd couldnt handle streaming full quality rips, and the wdtv couldnt handle HD audio
