So a local delivery guy turns up, dripping wet and not looking too healthy.

I asked if he was feeling ok given the temperature, and he replied that he cant wait to get to lunch to go and buy some more water, so I offered him a couple of bottles from the fridge (we buy bottled water by the thousand on a pallet) to which he immediately accepted and thanked me saying its company policy that even in this temperature, they can not ask for water (even from a tap), and if they need a refill they have to wait until a break or go back to base.

I thought that's absolutely crazy!? Surely someones health is not worth whatever paperwork or regulation to simply ask for water?

Either way, ive now stocked up the fridge next to the door with 50 bottles with a notice on my door for delivery guys to help themselves, im not going to quibble over a 10pence bottle of water in this heat for people.

TLDR: Offer your delivery guys some water in this heat.

Just to pick out the point of "he should have his own", he did, he drunk it all.

Ive gotten through 2 litres today myself sat in a relatively cooled office in comparison to being outside or driving around.

He's driving a delivery van.... he can't fill up 2 * 2 liter bottles and put them in the cab?

I think perhaps he needs to man up a bit or just sort out his personal admin...

*shrug* everyone gets caught out once in a while.

I aint gonna quibble over 10 pence telling him to sort his admin out, if it makes you feel big to think so, go nuts ;)
