So I just got back from Canada for 6 months and while not a lot has changed, I'm mesmerised and very happy for the prices of console games we have.

Thank goodness for the UK buying power and our pre-owned market. In Canada, you won't find a PS3 game for less then 50-60$ + tax so almost 70$. Here in the UK we can buy a few month old titles for as little as £10 and yestarday I saw FIFA 09 for £3.98! Crazy! In Portugal and other European countries games are very expensive as well.

So yeah, bless the UK for it's buying power, this is truly a great country if you're a gamer.

A friend of mine moved back from the US a while back, and pretty much had the same shock with the pre-owned stuff.

Fifa and PES tend to hold no value though. The current trade in price locally for any of the slightly older ones is 99p..

Well 70 canadian dollars = just over £43...so its not that different really. (although of course there are some places that do games cheaper than ~£40 :D)

Ouch, stupid recession. When I was there in 2006 $70 = <£35

Yep exchange rate isnt that great as it was a few yrs back...good thing i have quite a bit of money stashed away in a canadian bank that i had changed over when the rate was very good...now its not so good.

Personally id rather be back in Canada tbh...the pros of Canada far outweigh the cons of Canada imo.

Ah yes, Britain does not have beautiful parts

Grass greener is not always the case.

I think you will find majority of the people that go to Canada tend to think that is the case;). Why else do you have people saying that if they were to leave Canada would be on their list of places to live in??.

And Knives didnt say anything about Britain being not beautiful...England has some lovely places theres no doubting that.

I have always maintained the view that Leicestershire has some of the most beautiful countryside you can find anywhere in the world :)

Canada is superlative when it comes to it though. Lovely vistas of forests and mountainsides, plus the Aurora Borealis.

I think people go a bit OTT with the rip-off england thing. Whenever I've been abroad and gone to buy this cheap petrol, alcohol, electronics, it's never really been much different.

Not that I've been many places though.

I've lived in quite a different places and England is usually cheaper when it comes to buying clothes, food and general stuff. Alcohol is so cheap here, lol a glass of beer in Canada can easily set you back $6.25 in most pubs/clubs, here it's usually no more then 2 quid, some places it's just £1.25. Since alcohol is stricly sold by the government there as well, there's no tescos/asdas promotions, 24 pack of Stella for a tenner for example and you're looking at about 40 dollars for that + TAX. Food in canada, even if you go to macdonalds, you're still going to spend atleast $8 and there's no Tescos/Boots meal deal kind of thing anywhere. Oh and books, find me a book for less then $20 and you will not find promotions like waterstones does, 3 books for £5, maybe 3 books for $30 if you're lucky.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder as they say, the mountains thing, yeah, it's pretty, but you know what, we got mountains in France, Switzerland, Italy, Spain, Portugal, etc too.

Do they have no eBay in Canada?

EDIT: And I bet that rents and housing is much cheaper over there.

Ofcourse rent and housing is cheaper, you could probably fit 300 Englands in Canada and they have half the people we have. Not to mention some places are so cold that no one would want to live there so land is dirt cheap.

But I was referring to games and the sale of products in particular.

As to the ebay comment, yeah ofcourse, in fact, the sale of used goods is very big there since everyone uses Cragslist or used*intertcityname*.com but people still won't part with it for much less then what they paid for since it was expensive in the first place, unless you're buying junk ofcourse. But if you want to buy a PSP or a macbook, don't expect much more then $25 of the PSP price and $100 of the macbook.
