Car went in for an MOT today, failed on 2x rear bulbs as the paint is coming off of them and a front near side cv gaiter... Sad times indeed.

They told me that apart from that the car is incredibly clean and well looked after, how does £85 sound to replace the bulbs and the gaiter?

Ok breakdown:

Gaiter is 17.95+ vat
Indicator bulbs are 3.29+vat each

So we are looking at £50 or 1 hour of labour on the gaiter. If i get the work done there the re-test is free. Otherwise I pay a tenner.

Why is this thread even here.

A Honda gaitor is more expensive than this and my Motorfactors replacement was about £12.

Do it and get back on enjoying the car.

It is indeed, seems cheap considering the 2.7k bill it threw up a few months back.

Sad thing is I can't get it done until next saturday :(

I don't get how people fail MOT's on things like bulbs and tyres, don't people check these before taking it in? Mechanical components I can understand though.

It's here because I feel the need to tell everybody here about everything... which reminds me its been a year so I should do one of those "Look its been a year and this is what I think threads".

To be honest i checked the bulbs and most stuff before it went in... the bulbs are fine and working, just apparently not yellow enough.

Didn't realise yours was a c4

Price sounds very fair as long as its a proper gaitor going on. And not a glue job. Cv joints can be a pita as often suspension components have to come off to make space. May be worth finding out if it'll need geo after

It is indeed a c4 :), they were a good bunch down there on southchurch road, they let me inspect the underneath of the car as I wanted to see how my manifold/bolts looked after all the work. I can report that it all looks shiny still. The MOT guy was also chatty after and commented on the cars overall condition... I like that!

Also anywhere close that does decent geo?

If the car hasn't had it done for as long as you know I'd make a dash to elite in rainham. They use hunter equipment but they are very knowledgeable which is what really matters
