Hey everyone

I noticed liquid level dropping very slowly for a few weeks, found a pool of water under drive bays last night. Turns out the clear led port on the back of my xspc 750 bay res is leaking, went to tighten it and it broke before I even put any force behind it whatsoever.

can anybody tell me the type of fitting this is so i can replace it? Or recommend anything to go in its place?

cheers

If its what I think it is don't they just push in?

Personally I would fill it with glue like araldite to be sure its not going to leak again. You can always just the the LED to the clear plastic if you need it.

I don't know to be honest, I think I can see threads through the plastic but i cant really get a good look due to the way my loop is plumbed into my case. It's the res that comes with the ex 240 raystorm kit so it's all black plastic apart from that port, I was wondering whether or not to put a fitting in its place for drainage when I go to add my GPU to the loop but I suddenly realized I know absolutely nothing about plumbing, the fittings or any of the sizes lol

If its not vital to anything I'd seal it up and not have the LED to be sure, I normally drain mine by placing it side down on 2 workbenches and pulling a pipe off.

Ok will do, you say araldite is good for it? The pump is still running and I've not lost any fluid over night so not sure what is going on but I don't really want to chance it, I've seen the mess these things make when something pops out of a hole it isn't supposed to pop out of.

I'm new to water cooling so a bit nervous about messing with it.

Any 2 part epoxy is going to do a good job just araldite is a good one.

Another thing I have done in the past when I've had a slow leak is wrap some paper towel around all the possible places and check it every day to see if any are wet/damp. Best done over a long periodt with everything electrical unplugged.

Yeah that sounds like a plan, I've dried the bays as best I can and will stick some more paper towels inside to make sure it is only leaking from one place. Im pretty sure it is just from that port though as it was wet.

I don't seem to have lost any more liquid but I'll probably give OCUK a call tomorrow and see if they'll send me out a replacement part, if not then I'll nip down B&Q to get some Araldite.

I can recommend LSX sealant too. Seems to set even on a weeping joint and it's removable if necessary. Had some for several years on a res where the threaded port was chipped so the fitting wouldn't seal as there wasn't a flat surface all the way round for the o ring to sit on.
