ive seen recent post asking which is the fastest gpu
maybe the question should be which is the best

price

performance

noise

reliability

temperatures under load

warranty (should your gtx480 set your new core i7 on fire)

package content

make your choice ....its upto you so what is it?

maybe it should be "what defines the best card in the world" you mean

personally I would do it on the card make and model what it looks like you are including is brand wise as well

"Which card will give you the best overall performance for the money, including overclocking" is what should be being asked really.

People also don't seem to understand what fastest GPU actually means.

is when its fastest in most situations over clocked or stock thats what it means for me

Why would we have to ask any questions if we already know the answers? There are people who will buy Fermis anyway, I don't see any particular reason for most of these discussions.

I've always thought of it as the fastest gpu on stock settings. That's what the benchmarks (at least to begin with) show when the reviews come out.

So you think heat and pwoer aren't important.

Yes, but when ATI fanboys realise their precious is no longer the fastets stock GPU they then claim overclocking results, even although no detailed comparison exists.

Erm...it depends on what you want? Fastest is clearly the main headline factor, because pc enthusiasts are much like fascist dictators- we all want as much power as possible at nearly any cost.

Qualities like noise, reliability/warranty and power consumption are threshold things, dont really matter up to a point then can turn into deal breakers.

Price is what it comes down to every time because that is what represents the value of all the qualities of the card combined.

Like Brucie said if the price is right its a goer. Or something like that.

at the end of the day it boils down to the person being happy with the choice they have made..

xfx 4890s in xfire

plays all my games well crysis 63 fps

under load 72deg

noise level fans 50% just audible over case fans

price at the time of purchase was 145 pounds each

and im happy....
