I am considering Howard and I am not actually "Black" per se, I personally dont identify as any race, but I may go to the Accepted Student day in April, I'm kind of nervous to not fit in because of my racial background, do people or you play soccer? That's like a big part of my life. How are the clubs etc. I am considering Poli Sci. and minor in literature , Last two things what year are you in and how's networking as far as with other D.C colleges i.e GWU AU Georgetown etc.? I noticed you touched upon a lack of diversity, how's the diversity? Please help lol

Just saw your video...I too transferred to Howard almost 30 years ago as a Marketing major and had exactly the same impressions after being there for just one month. I felt so out of place that I even considered going back to my old school for a minute. I will say that, although it took some time, by Spring semester it got much better. Like anything else you get out of it what you put into it. Now 30 years later, I can't imagine not having gone to Howard and my best friends to this day are folks that I met as a student there. By the way my wife transferred to Howard also. So get out of your room and go have some fun AND enjoy all that DC has to offer!

Thirty plus years ago, I was a freshman and had some similar experiences. Find your groove. Get in where you fit in. Connect with whomever you would like to connect with. Meet someone in various majors and hang out with them. Friendly people are friendly people, if they are genuine to themselves. Hang in there. Contact the Alumni if you would like some assistance.
