I have never had much luck with oc'ing but these numbers seem pretty pathetic to be failing this low, so im assuming I have done something wrong.

It's a little blury so i'll go over the numbers.
HTT x4 = 920mhz
Memory Clock @ 266 = 180mhz
CPU Voltage @ 1.40 (despite cpuz saying otherwise)

So core speed a little over 2.5ghz
It fails both Prime and Orthus within seconds, I know the obvious thing to do would be to drop back the FSB some but surely FSB 230 can't be the top end of the dial

I have tried upping the voltage as high as 1.475 but still no luck, also going to even 235 on the FSB = locking up before windows boots.
The board is a Abit 3rd Eye.

Can anyone see anything glaringly obviously wrong.

Well after lowering the multi to 5x the FSB is currently happily sitting at 245. So I guess it's not the mobo thats causing the OC to fail, but the CPU. I don't see the point in putting more volts into it for such a low OC so if nobody has any other suggestions i'll leave it at stock.

tbh, i'd chuck more volts at it, these cpu's run happily at 1.5 to 1.55v (as long as your temps are ok, ie, you have adequate cooling...)

Dropping the multi from 11x to 10x seems to of made a world of difference. It's currently running at 1.4250V and so far orthos stable.
If it holds out I will drop the HTT from 4x to 3x and push for a little more. Temps currently seem to be topping out at 49c with an Artic Freezer pro.

And as I typed that it failed orthos :p
More volts it is then, whats the worst that can happen

it could go 'fzzp' \o/ although at those temps i very much doubt it :D i'm sure you're well aware, but, just keep an eye on the temps

I have the Skt AM2 4200+ X2 and I have been trying to OC it latly. Im no expert on OCing and I managed to get it to 2.51Ghz before it promptly BSOD'ed whilst trying to upload the picture.

Had to pump up the voltage then I promptly burnt my hand on the SB and decided it was time to turn it down again :D
