Interesting. This could be really really awesome if they implement a standby mode like the PS3. That way, when a demo comes out, you can set it to download from this web based marketplace and have it ready to play when you get home.

Rather cool if it is implemented correctly, and if they do enable a standby mode:

Develop's article speculates that the 360 console will have to be kept in a stand by mode in order to be ready for a remote command to download content. There is no word if this stand by mode will be a new feature, or the same sleep mode currently available to use when leaving the system to download a file for an extended period of time. As far as we're concerned it would be nice to see the 360 activate itself when commanded to start a download, rather than having to leave it on stand by at all times just in case someone wants the latest Rock Band tracks ready to play when they get home from work.

WHAT?!

You can use the PS Store from PC and set the PS3 to download it just like that?!

No, sorry to get you excited. But I understand the PS3 has a standby mode so that you can access stuff with your PSP on the move. AFAIK you can't do what potentially this XBL Marketplace this could do, which is set stuff to download from a remote PC.

The 360 (AFAIK) doesn't have a standby mode, but for this to work I think it would need one, well, that's what the article says anyway.

Using the PSP is effort. :p

Well...it does technically have a standby mode, a low-power mode were it can download with just the basics running.

This would be an awesome feature though for sure.

Yeah but they would have to have it in that standby mode all the time if you wanted to get it to switch on and download whilst you're out. At the moment it only goes into low-power mode if you download something and then turn the console off.

Ahh yes, I see what you mean.

They could hopefully integrate something like Power on LAN or something I'd imagine/hope.

Wake On LAN (WOL). The PS3 uses that. 99% of Network Cards have that hardware feature, so I am sure the 360 has it, just needs some software to do the other half.
