Web Browser within a VR game

I understand that V is an App that can enable a pop up browser window in game.
Can this be done using the Oculus v2.0 beta software? I also get the impression that there may be other alternatives.

Anyone got experience with the above?

My intent was to use it whilst flying in VR (DCS), such that I can look at maps and similar.

Yes it can be done using Oculus dash and to be fair it works quite well.

Enable the beta, then press the Oculus menu button on right controller, click the Oculus desktop option on the bar in front of you.

Gives you a fairly usable Windows desktop and you can grab your windows for the app you want e.g. a browser window for YouTube and on its separate window it will have a pin icon at the bottom right.
While you have it grabbed you can also use the joystick to resize it and pull/push it away from you.

Pin it and press the Oculus menu button again, everything will close back to home/game and leave that Window in place.

Can it be done without a touch controller (as I don't have one)?

Ah, not sure to be honest but I've only used it with touch. Not sure how you could grab the windows without it though

Think it needs a controller- if you use x plane at all check out move vr and avitab- maybe someone could do something similar for DCS
