Web Cam and Andriod Phone

Now I am sure this is possible just not sure how go about !

I have a USB web cam which I normally connect to my PC.

Can the USB Web Cam plug in to my Router which has a 2x USB sockets and view the picture / footage over the web on my android smart phone ! ?

Apple phones have iZon Remote Room Monitor which is a motion sensitive web cam that includes mic,..wow !

Is there a Andriod simular device ! ?

Oh yes, this is for home use.

I know you can, but I think you need some open source software to do it. There was a story on the BBC site last week, or the week before about a bloke that has made a baby monitor like that using open source software and VLC media player.

What I can not get my head round is will the router run the web cam ! ?
As I am sure I can view the footage on the smart phone web browser !
