My sites roll over menu, which is an inline list displays differently in some browsers.

Why is this happening? Is it because of the font size being different in each browser?
The buttons sometimes stick too low, they look correct in Windows IE6/7 and Windows Firefox 1.5 and 2.0 and Safari mac.
