Web Design suggestions/comments etc

Just putting together a little website for a small business I'm going to setup (don't expect it to do much, just bring in the odd pound or two).

Not got very far in the design, but I like to get comments/suggestions at this point before I become to attached to my designs and don't want to change them!

Any suggestions much appreciated!

That looks very "image based". Try to use regular text and CSS to style it.

Shouldn't come out too bad, only images that'd be needed are the gradients (which at 1px by 25px or whatever will be tiny) and the logos/navbars.
Shouldn't come out above 50kb.

Why does the navigation need to be image based? :confused:

Just use normal text as the images themselves are doing nothing that normal text can't do.

Overall the site is very very plain. There is nothing of interest, at all, on that page. The text box in the middle looks lost, and I'm not even sure what it is, a news panel, the content area, what?

For a very plain basic site, I guess it does the job, but if it's going to be powering a business, even a small one, it needs to have more life in it than that. Get some more colour on there, and perhaps an image or two, I don't know. It needs something more than what it has now anyway.
