Whats a simple program to use to create websites these days, want to spruce up a website, static content so nothing uber technical.
Last website I did was about 10 years ago in notepad :lol:

Notepad++ and Google Chrome for me.

Don't know of anything like Dreamweaver that is free, I find they are a bit more annoying to fix issues in as the program puts code where it thinks it should go etc.

Really depends what it's for, and if you want to pay some sort of monthly fee.

Expression?

Microsoft Expression Web and Design 4 are now available for free. I do most of my work in VS2010 but for a static site, I'd image you would be hard pressed to find a better tool, for free, than Expression Web 4,

Suprised how many use text editors and then just fire them through a browser to check tbh, pretty rusty so might give HTML coding a miss and go for the MS option

PhpStorm/WebStorm is fantastic.

Edit: I'd like to point out that the above applications also include a Live Edit feature, demonstrated below.

ZenCoding also has my recommendation (also demonstrated in the video). It's compatible with most editors.

Another vote for Sublime Text 2. Stacks of useful plugins available for it too.

If you are not doing anything too fancy, MS WebMatrix will probably do the job. It's pretty lightweight and quick to get to grips with - http://www.microsoft.com/web/webmatrix/

I've started using Brackets which is a new code editor maintained by Adobe.

It's super clean and gets the job done for me, otherwise I'd be using Sublime Text 2 and Chrome also.
