Hi guys,

Long story short; a club website I used to maintain was handed over to another individual after the hosting I was using had expired. They used their own provider as far as I'm aware - but the domain ownership stayed the same with the chairman of the club. Now he (the chairman) wants me back to run things, where do I start? Our old hosts, Vidahosts, don't even recognise his login credentials - we used them for the domain and hosting. I think his registration for the domain expires in August.

Vidahost used to let me manage the domain, even though the hosting had lapsed. Any advice?

Can he not give them a ring and say he has lost his credentials? VH probably have the best customer services around - they'll sort it pretty quick.

Might aswell keep the domain & hosting with Vida too

If the domain is a .uk then you can claim it through Nominet assuming you control the admin email address listed in the WHOIS.

Otherwise the WHOIS will at least tell you where it's registered (although the actual registrar might be a reseller, it's a good place to start).
