We have a web filter set up here in place and the times of use are internet useable before 9am and restricted up to lunch etc then available again after lunch....

But it has come to my attention that loads of users are getting in before 9 and opening youtube, facebook etc and all that but leaving it open...... obviously if they F5 (refresh the page) it gets blocked, but if they dont it is stil there to look at..cunning people

So, is there a way I can "auto refresh IE" so it can disable users to do this?

lol what good is a you tube page if it's kept open. it's one page don't worry about it. How about you walk around and then close the page for them?

That was an example but it seems they are opening all the pages they want, all friends facebook expanding all posts etc.. and then reading them all - when lunch comes round, they all essentially update...

Interesting ....

How about doing a script that closes all IE browsers after lunch? Do they all require Internet Explorer for any web apps / email e.t.c?

tasklist / taskkill

I was hoping for a more automated method, rather than checking to see if they are

I could alter the internet times i suppose lol

if they are being naughty just block youtube and facebook totally:p

and this ....... if they can't be trusted remove the sites completly.

Precisely. If they are actively finding ways to circumvent the IT policy, simply remove all access. Just like naughty children, if they cannot be trusted to play nicely, confiscate their toys.
