Basicly im 17, have my own PC business and want put it on the net.
My main factors are
-the price per month and year
-the web usage/bandwidth
-design and creation of the website.

What is the best host , any of you have used ? How much and what was included ?

sorry if i sound nooby :( guess i am :L

TSO Host.

49.99 for the year inc domain name last time I looked.
Theres also a discount codes kicking about to make that 14.95 for the initial year.
10Gb Disk, 150GB/m bw

Design/creation howerver will be upto you

I'm fairly happy with Heartinternet.
They offer cheap hosting with decent bandwidth, but very little help on the design front im afraid. Costs around £35/yr + Domain for a few quid a year.

i use zen internet, their prices are higher than most, however support and uptime is superb.
i also have my broadband from them , only 2 outages in 5 years + cant be bad.

Just buy your Domain from someone different to your host. I'd recommend 123-reg and Vidahost. Never had an issue in over a year with them!

Why bother? You get a free domain from TSOHost, bar far the best hosting I've used. Superb support as well.

Registron is good as well, owned by the same people who do TSOHost.

Depending on the type of business, there are a range of easy install software like Wordpress, cube card etc that can be installed with a few clicks from cPanel using fantastico. Makes it very easy to create a workable good looking website with minimal fuss.

Because if you want to move hosts, they often charge silly money to transfer the domain name over to the new hosting company. If you have it registered on 123-reg or some other third party, you never even need to contact them, just change the name-servers and wait for it to update.

Have you ever used Vidahost? All the reviews I read say they're as good as each other, just choose the best package from either to suit you, then buy it.

Nope, never had that issue and I've used loads of hosts and domain registering companies. You just ask them to change the name servers and I'm pretty sure they can't charge you for it.

We've had all sorts of issues trying to gain control of our work domain names - unwravelling a web of companies to get it (between marketing/designers, hosts, ISPs and the like).

It's more than just changing the nameservers, if you cancel the hosting account the domain would go with it, you'd have to change the IPS tag too.

I'd recommend keeping them seperate, however, with a decent host (like TSOHost - highly recommended) i don't think you'd have an issue with seperating them later.

I see no reason to keep a domain separate from hosting. If you don't trust a host to look after your domain, why on Earth trust them with data which is important to yourself (and possibly your business)? The same applies vice versa, too.

It's true there are companies who make life difficult but these are becoming rarer as their clients migrate away and post negative reviews, whereas the decent hosts state their policies clearly (disclaimer, that's my company but just posting here as an example).

Because you've unfortunately chosen dodgy hosts or not read their T&Cs sadly. That doesn't make it right though but then business is business perhaps.

I'm pretty sure all hosts recommended here makes zero charge whatsoever for moving away a domain as any other good host would. But on the other hand if a host is selling something uber-cheap, the transfer away charge is there to of course produce profit, but also ensure they aren't taken advantage of, so swings and roundabouts perhaps.

I can think of one large well known host in particular who do that but there's no more to it with a decent company who don't tie you into long, complex contracts at silly prices.

We had a large corporation migrate hundreds of domains to us for precisely this reason. Since that time it's taken about 4 weeks to get all the domains transferred over!

Whatever you choose - read the T&Cs carefully as with any online purchase.

Whats the best price wise for the ones you use a month / year. As im only 17 no job and only a little income from the computer business. And no my parents wont lend me money.
