Hi all, got a small, albeit ignorant query here.
I have a hosted virtual server (via FastHosts) running a website. I also run an Exchange server at home for the same domain name as the website hosted on the VPS.
The website has an (example) IP of: 99.99.99.99 and the Exchange server has an (example) IP of: 22.22.22.22
I want to use a subdomain to make browsing to the Outlook Web Access (OWA) on the Exchange Server easier e.g. "mail.mydomain.co.uk" which will divert to the OWA on the Exchange Server's HTTP address (http://22.22.22.22/exchange), however weird issue (or not, I don't know, hence the question!) - I can't access the main website (www.mydomain.co.uk) that is hosted on the VPS from my home network (home network is where the Exchange Server is running), nor can I access the Exchange OWA via the subdomain (mail.mydomain.co.uk). I can obviously access Exchange OWA from the internal IP address (http://192.168.0.2/exchange).
Everyone else on the planet (except maybe North Korea!??) can access both www.mydomain.co.uk and mail.mydomain.co.uk (the bit that diverts to Exchange). I can access both resources from my work network, or a friends network, anywhere appears to work - just not from my home network.
On my FastHosts control panel I have both the domain name and the subdomain name setup as you'd expect (all very standard stuff), A Records pointing to the Webserver where the content is hosted (99.99.99.99). Then I have IIS7 configured as standard for the main website, but have a separate website configured for the Exchange OWA access - The OWA website is setup as "mail.mydomain.co.uk and this points to my Exchange Server's external IP (http://22.22.22.22/exchange).
Now, I'm sure the reason why I cannot access the main website is something to do with the way the subdomain (mail.mydomain.co.uk) is forwarded to my Exchange Server - however, why might be causing the issue I'm not sure.
I'd like my subdomain to simply forward to the Exchange Server directly, but I'm sure you can't put "22.22.22.22/exchange" as an A Record.
Anyone be able to offer some advice on the mess above? I'm sure I'm just being overly thick, but you've got to learn somewhere right!?
Thanks,
