Hi all,

I was hoping to get some advice from some of you clever folk. See the thing is is that I haven't really done much website work since my uni days (2004) and back then I used to use a bootleg copy of dreamweaver as thats what we were recommended to use by the uni

Anyway, I now want to start doing more sites but DONT want to use anything illegal (but can't justify buying a legit copy of dreamweaver for my dabbling). So, what software can I used instead that may be free, or cheap on either Mac OSX or XP? I used to remember dreamweaver having a template feature, is this still common?

Finally, and on a side note, for someone wanting to get into php and css what sites/turorials/books do you recommend for a novice? Any recommendations would be great.

Thanks in advance by the way :)

If you're serious about creating websites then you really need to learn HTML, CSS and Javascript and get yourself a decent code editor like Coda, TextMate or Espresso.

Well I'm not too shabby with html in notepad (not professional by any standard though but I understand the concepts etc). CSS is something that I need to get my head around, though back in the day I couldn't see the point of this over Dreamweavers Template function. Dreamweaver used to let you create one master template and then all other pages made using this template were automatically updated if you for example added a new link.

Thanks for the links though, ill check them out and have a play.
