My girlfriend has a fujitsu siemens amilo laptop, the problem is that some webpages dont fit the whole screen. Some have about 2" of space down the side of them and some even more - most web pages are displayed ok but why are some displayed so small and with some much dead space at either side

It depends on how the website is designed. Some design for 800x600 some design for 1024 x 940 or whatever.

What resolution does she use?

Is it a widescreen laptop, Some people, myself included make fixed width sites and they tend not to fill the screen

yeah it is a wide screen laptop so i supose that explains it - thanks for the replies
