Morning,

Over the last week my internet has been very 'slow'. I have noticed my IP address change and now when I do a speedtest it decides to run on a server up north.

The speeds from that server are slow, when I do a test from a local server they are fine (95mb down, 40ms ping..)
When I download from newsgroups, the speed is also fine.

My problem is that loading web pages is VERY slow, youtube videos aren't even buffering at the lowest quality. What could be the cause of this? The problem is on all computers in the house.

Flushed the cache and seems no different, not tried using safemode - though considering it's on my phone, my iPad, my laptop and my desktop I can't see it being a problem with the computer itself.

This is odd though:
Code:
C:\Users\Oli>ping overclockers.co.uk

Though I am on the website. Edit: I guess they deny ICMP?

Haha. Had a virgin media forum support person say they checked the modem and area and everything looks OK. Asked for trace routes and pings to bbc site.

First ping, 3/4 failed. Second 1/4 failed.
I just can't understand why when I download everything is full speed. Hopefully it improves over next few days!

I named it that - couldn't be bothered to call it anything else. Out all day do will see what it's like when I'm home!

Not even got a BT line at the house. Surely there are problems with every provider anyway! Just got home, doesn't seem too bad so far.

No idea to be honest. New houses and I know like most of the road has Virgin.

Wouldn't want to change really either, messes up the bill and Sky don't offer the speeds Virgin do.
Not been this bad in a while!

I don't understand the differences between all these FTTx things :p

On the sky website I type in my postcode and get "You don't currently have an active landline so any Sky Broadband and Talk products are dependent on you also taking Sky Line Rental. We will need to arrange for an engineer visit to install a new Sky phone line at your property as part of the checkout process."

Going to turn off the superhub for a few minutes and turn it on again.
