Hi.
Im trying to fix some webcam problems between me and a mate.
Ive managed to fix the connection problems by setting up some custom firewall rules.
And ive smoothed it out somewhat by stopping one of my downloads.

Now im trying to work out if the slight framerate problems and poor video quality are a result of the other persons webcam being the one built into the laptop on their end, or the fact that their net connection has only gone live in the last few hours, and thus, still training.

Ideas?

There could be a combination of factors, are you both using the same video codecs?
what's the delay when you ping between the two ends of the connection?
What are the uplink and downlink speeds at each end?

MSN uses the same codecs all round for video comms. So thats not a factor.
Plus, at the moment, its just one way, them to me.

They're, i'd imagine on a dynamic IP, and they wouldnt know how to ping.

My end? 300kb/s down, 38kb/s up.
They're end, not a clue, as said, the line has only been live for a few hours. its probably still training itself.
