Webcam mic problem

Having problems with Microsoft Lifecam VX-6000 built-in microphone.

Audio recordings sound like this

When I've tried recording voice I can hear faintly in background so mic is definitely picking up something. Also if I use Windows Sound Recorder the audio is perfect so no mic fault.

Have tried driver on disc, updated driver, removing soundcard and searched all Microsoft's support pages but no answers so far.

Can anyone help please?

Are you using onboard sound?
