webcam monitoring software

had some little buggers damaging my car, so iv built up an old system to attach a usb cam to it, anyone have any suggestions to the best software, i want to monitor it from another room in my house over my network
 
Maybe you could connect the old system to the internet and use a video chat site like tinychat.com / ustream.tv / stickam.com / justin.tv to broadcast the camera online.....

That would mean you could go to the private chatroom you setup from another computer and remotely view the camera online from anywhere.......

You could use the "webcammax" software to record the webcam to the hard disk of the old machine so you have a hard copy whilst all this is happening,just remember to select your webcam as the video source in the webcammax software and also to choose the Webcammax virtual webcam device as the source of the video in the chatroom your using.

These are the only ideas i could come up with,maybe somebody else has much more practical soloution?

1 step ahead of ya with the old system, just built up an old athlon xp with 1.2gb ram and a couple of hard drives, and a wifi dongle, just need to figure out my method of software
 
managed to get it working with broadcam video streaming server, currently streaming via windows media player, as vlc refuses point blank to even load it lol, not the greatest quality from a 2.0 megapixel webcam but its all i have for now, iv tried to get a few people to test it and see if they can log in from outside my network, so far only 1 person managed it from the link i gave them
 
haha, i know thats a very real possibility, but i do actually want to try and catch them as its the 3rd time its happened now, so im dying to catch them and depending on my mood..........hehe
 
Even if they dont do anything to your car they might move onto somebody elses in the neighbourhood on the same street so you might be able to catch them in the act doing it to some other poor persons car. Worth while to have it i think.
