My sister got a webcam for christmas and the webcam capture software that came with it is horrible....even for my sister.

Is there any free software that allows to take pictures (snapshots) using any webcam.

I Have had a look through the OcUK Freeware List and am really unsure which to try. What do you guys use?

Any thoughts appreciated.

EDIT.

XP Home Edition, Service Pack 2.

I am not too sure when you want to take snapshots, the webcam conf software ooVoo has this facility, so when doing a video con with other people you can take a snapshot of any active video window, otherwise try using HoverSnap (or WinSnap) to take a snapshot of a part of the screen where the video picture is...:)

By taking snapshots I mean a picture using the webcam that will then save to the computer in a format such as JPG.

if you go to my computer , scanners and cameras your webcam will be listed in there , double click to load the webcam up (online) and then you can take pictures via XP :)

Has anyone got anymore ideas?

She also wants to be able to adjust the brightness, contrast and other controls of the image.

Thanks in advance.
