Quick question, I'm after a web-cam that supports XP64 (thats XP 64bit, not Vista or Win 7).

I'm not necessary looking for HD quality, but something with at least reasonable optics.

I would also like a built in USB mic, sound quality needs to be pretty good. I have Logitech USB desk mic currently at something at least similar to this.

Any suggestions?

The logitech webcam pro 9000 is a very good cam, was the best at that price range when i got it.
Maybe something better has been released now?

Im using the Mircosoft VX-1000 on Windows 7 64 bit here but software is available for every version of Windows going. It works a treat and has a built in Mic too which works very well. Quite resonable to buy at around £14.00.

Garnhamr, I looked at this cam and I like it.

However I looked at the Logitech support side, and I can't determine if it supports XP 64. Could you have a look at your drivers and see if there's any XP64 support?

Maybe you could get a camera with UVC support? That is, a camera that uses the generic USB video class protocol. I assume XP 64 has support for it as many different devices do (e.g PS3)

EDIT: MS website says that XP has supported it since SP2 so I assume this includes XP64 support

I'm pretty sure it supports xp64 and i found this in the readme for the driver i'm using (i'm using an older driver, version 1.0 because i prefer the quick capture front end/gui or whatever you call it):

It is always recommended to install the latest and greatest service packs available for the Windows operating system that you are running (e.g. XP 32 SP3, XP 64 SP2, Vista 32 SP1, and Vista 64 SP1). This LWS release will also offer beta level application support for the Beta release of Windows 7.

as you can see this is a pretty old driver seing as windows 7 is still in beta. I'm sure it will support xp64 though

shop around for it as i think i got mine for almost half the rrp of £79.99 from 'a very well known shop almost like a supermarket' ...

edited because i think i'm not supposed to put the name of the shop xD

Sorry for not replying before.

Cheers for that, yes i've worked it out the 9000 pro does support xp64. There is however a l'cheapo Logitech HD (£20 at OCUK) that looking at reviews on youtube looks incredible picture quality for money, will pop down to OCUK and pick up one of those.
