So I'm going to have my first ever Skype date with my long distance girlfriend in 1 week and need a webcam that's forgiving, By that I mean, Maybe beautifies the pic a little by giving it depth of field etc... to make it look cool.

Any suggestions are welcome :)

Think you might struggle to find a webcam with a shallow depth of field since the sensors are tiny (makes it much harder to get a shallow depth of field).

I recently picked up a Logitech C920 to replace my ancient Microsoft webcam. The jump in resolution was quite impressive and it's a wider lens too so would be helpful if you needed to fit in more people.

The microphone I had at the time died so I've been using the onboard mic on the webcam and it's not too bad considering. It still picks up a lot of ambient noise but doesn't sound too bad. I wear wireless headphones for my Skype chats with family and it works pretty well.

What phone do you have? Some of the latest models sch as the Galaxy S8 have AF front facing cameras that do apply depth of field and smooth out skin tones etc to make things look nicer.

It's a basic Samsung jobby, No camera, No internet etc....

Thanks for the replies though peeps, Ended up getting the Logitech 920 as it was on sale for £30 :)
