I an making enquiries for a friend. They are setting up a website that will be dedicated to video games. There will be mainly articles on the website no downloads or anything like that.

However the target audience will mainly be based in the Middle East, website owner will be working out of Holland. They are targeting 60,000 unique visitors per month and building up to 2 million within 12 months. I advised that any good host would allow them to upgrade along the way. However with the user base being mainly in the Middle East I was unable to offer any more help.

If anyone has any advice will be greatly appreciated.

2million visitors a month is fairly weighty so you will need your own server if that's what your anticipating.

As Vidahost seem to operate around the clock I would recommend them. They are awesome and very competitive on price too. If you're interested in a robust, performance, well supported, hosting service then have a look at them.

60k uniques won't actually be that heavy load, you could get away with a good shared setup for that, no problem. We were doing about half a million uniques on a simple shared hosting package with the only issues coming when we got hit by digg or the like... stepping up to 1million/2million is where you'll probably need a good VPS, mind. Depends entirely on the site though, how the content is served, etc.

Another one for vidahost here, i found this coupon as well use "discount" for 10% off at checkout. You can also phone / send them an email as well. :)

Kind of skirting the question really... Vidahost would be perfect for UK based sites, but for Middle East sites there might be something completely different.
