My home broadband is down this morning so i'm browsing the web whilst connected via my phone (N95 phone connected to PC by USB - using the "modem" feature of PC suite).

Question is - is this "modem" connection just the sme as if I was browsing the web from my phone on web'n'walk cost-wise? or is it some sort of extra service above that which i'll be charged through the nose for?

Yep its included in the cost of web and walk, so you wont be charged any additional data charges. It isnt allowed in the terms and conditions, you need to pay extra to use it as a modem (web and walk plus), however...I have heard people using a modem on standard web and walk and having no problems. Additionally I am not sure how they could tell if you were using it as a modem!

Exactly right - it's not allowed and you should be prepared that if T-Mobile detect that you're using your laptop, they will charge you additional data rates, but as long as your usage isn't excessive they (probably/maybe/hopefully) won't do. Beware that the "fair use" amount for standard Web 'n' Walk is fairly low (for PC use) and if you go over it you probably will be charged.

BB is back up now - good to know I can use the web'n'walk as a short term backup though.

I connected my N95 via the bluetooth connection on my laptop and used w'n'w to browse the net. I got a connection box asking for my username and password, and also a number to dial. Leave the username and password blank and put *99# in the dial box and it should connect no problem.

what speeds do you get?

Hi can anyone help me out here, i have:

1) Installed Nokia pc suite on pc
2) connected phone via usb cable included with phone
3) established link with the phone and opened the dial up connection
4) left username password blank and used the *99# code

It gets as far as registering but come up with error 734

Are you guys sure your on the standard web and walk package and not the plus version as thats an extra £5 a month, perhaps that why i cant connect, any settings i've missed on the phone, just opened the webnwalk up and then use the pc to attempt to connect?

It specifically mentions the plkus version if you want to use a laptop to connect so i'm confused really.

I'm on the standard web'n'walk - all I did was press the config/setup button and selected "t-moble uk" from the list and thats it - didn't set any username/password/dial.

Yeah, i managed to get it to work that way on my dads machine, gonnna try a new install see if that works on my machine. seems to work quite well too as i had 512K.
