Webplus X2 or Mr Site

Hi I am interested in trying to create my own website, but would like to use software that does this for me since I have no knowledge of how to build one from scratch myself. There are several web site designer software packages around but I have no idea which would be the best to use. Dreamweaver I see mentioned quite frequently appears to be really good but is out of my price range. Hence the named packages above, has anyone used these before? if so are they user friendly? Please recommend others if you can. I've read that Webplus X2 is good but needs Serif's own graphice package to alter the images used with its own software.

Can you not just start off with a free online template?

I was not aware this option was available to me, remember COMPLETE novice with NO experience. Was looking for something idiot proof.
