Hi all,

Our tech director has had a review done on the site and feedback is that it needs to appear more trustworthy.

It's a legal site and it is all above board but we deal in high-value estates in some cases.

Are there bodies out there that you can sign up with that check you out and provide you with a stamp of approval, I suppose something like Which? does with products.

Thanks

A lot of trust can be conveyed by adding detailed profiles of those behind the business, with photos if they are ok with that.

Also, add video to the site with a personal message from the director.

Display logos of any professional associations you are a member of.

Re internet services, there is TrustPilot. However, caution may be needed as this displays all reviews, good and bad.

Drill deeper and try to generate a list of requirements for what makes a "trustworthy" site. Ask exactly which elements tip him off that the site may not be trustworthy - it could be many different things to many people.

Example: maybe he doesn't like the colour scheme because he associates it to something else, maybe there is a particular content block that doesn't quite fit with the rest which gives the feeling it's a bit shoddy. In each case the "solution" can be quite different, so it would be best to form a plan of attack before throwing random attempts at it (especially since half-hearted, poorly-considered "fixes" could do more harm than good in the long run).

Him simply saying "make it more trustworthy" is not constructive feedback. If the site looks like somebody knocked it up in 5 minutes with Dreamweaver all of the accreditation in the world will not make it look trustworthy.
