Say that you have the #value for company X's branding. Is there a way of finding the different shades to use? Or is it just based on what looks best to your eye? (I'm no designer, colour's aren't my thing!).

Sorry if this is a stupid question. But I was hoping that there would be an easy way of making 2 or 3 shades that match the main colour... if that makes sense.. :/

Oh that looks quite good, thanks :)

What does websafe colour mean?

It means nothing, essentially. 10 years ago, it had some relevance in defining a set of colours that supposedly appeared exactly the same everywhere, but now - when even mobile phones have support for 16-bit colour - it's totally irrelevant. Use whatever colours you like :)

I'm afraid you're not allowed to use #FF004E.

This is an awesome colour, and it's copyrighted to me.

Is it wrong that I, and probably most of you, know what colour something is from its hex value?

Nope, I do too. It's like the matrix* man, you stop seeing code and start seeing colours

*or acid, I guess.
