right guys kinda have a few ideas for a website that i plan on setting up soon but really need someone's opinion/s on the matter.

first off is i plan on setting up a on-line template store which will include my own designs etc..but the only downside i would like to have it kinda on 'auto pilot' since i really wont have much time to run it with a baby on its way (good times).

i plan on getting something similar to the look of Template-Monster or use Cube Cart,Google check out or paypal pro sort but my question is what is there there to keep it going automatically.

for example:
someone visits the site>buys a template (or more then one)>they automatically receive it (or them) via download link.

its been bugging me for a while since i really don't know how to go about it and looking for advice and pointers on how to achieve it and make it possible.

Well from the sounds of it you just do exactly as you've said..

They visit the site, buy a template, which then opens up the download page, where they can download it to their machine.

One thing to think about is, are people going to be able to buy them and download them as many times as they like? Or will it be £10 (for example..) per design download?

If your going to let them download the item multiple times you may need another page for the logged in account's "Purchased Items" with a bit of a history on when it was purchased, how much it was, ect..

Is the site going to have other designers work as well? If you don't have time to run the site because of a child on the way, how will you encourage other designers to submit their work to your site over other well established websites?

If it's just your own designs, why not use one of the other well established websites instead? Where you will receive a lot of more eyeballs on your work and potentially more sales.

so far thanks guys for the replies.

at the moment its just me with my own designs but i will probably expand have others who could join and pay a commission of some sort, to tell you the truth i don't know yet as i have to many ideas flying around.

one off payment to all my designs, subscription based charge i really don't know and probably need thinking out a lot more and have a firm idea of what i want before putting pen to paper lol

Hey

Have a look at Magento Commerce. Does downloads, paypal integration and can be left on autopilot.

I use it for a whole bunch of shops and can really recommend it.

thanks for the info, and yes il take a look at it.

can i install it without uploading it to the server, customize the look on my machine then uploading it etc...?
