Website link does not work on tablets etc

A friend has a website that was designed by me ex girlfriend way back in 2005 or so, she designed it in Dreamweaver MX, there is a hotspot link, when you highlight the link in a browser on a pc, it drops down with 2 other links, on a smartphone or tablet nothing happens, any ideas or does he need to get a designer to make changes, he has Dreamweaver MX on his pc, and Contribute also.

The menu JavaScript probably uses 'hover' events which don't exist on tablet devices. The JavaScript code controlling the menu may need to be updated to use touch events to open and close the drop down menu.

That site is seriously out of date. You'd be considerably better off rebuilding it than trying to hack it to work on tablets. But it is pretty much as the above has stated, JS all over the place to control what is visible and isn't. Very messy.

Oz is correct, you need to update the handlers to touch events, this should work if you implement correctly.

It is a clever hack, it will also not alter the regular event handlers (hover) so will display on PC and mobile devices.
