Website needs to look more inviting!

30% bounce rate is quite low considering your content and its a personal site not offering a service or a blog for people to read.
Youve got to remember that a lot of people that use SU just do it when they're bored or looking for inspiration. Ive got my SU toolbar and when Im bored or feel like looking at some random websites I just click through a few giving them thumbs up or down whether I like the website or not. Im not overly fussed on what it is about, more the look of it as I use SU for inspiration and article resources.
I really wouldnt start playing music when your website loads, its a 100% close the tab as quick as possible for me as I hate not being given the option. If its going through SU and a music category this might be ok though. Depends who you're stumblers are and how theyve come across your website.

Hope anything Ive said helps! :) You've got to target your audience, why are they coming on your website, where from, who/what are you and why would they want to click other links on yor website

Thanks tsinc80697 that's a great help, I agree with the no option music thing, I'm going to let the viewer decide whether they listen or not. I was hoping the site would appeal to visually and audibly stimulated web surfers, It just needs a bit more work I think and I probably need to think about my keywords for stumble thru etc. thanks again. ps, just looked at your website stuff, very impressive. ash

Thanks :) Can I ask why you decided to develop the website fully in flash? If you're trying to get more visitors to your website, both SU and search engines then I'd advise to go down the xHTML/CSS route as its far more accessible and search engine friendly.

a couple from me:
make the large Ashley Best button click-able to the websites home page.

And the fuzzy floating things on the home page, i was expecting some user interaction from it, even if they just reacted to the mouse's movement,
eg repelled away, swirled around etc.
might it might be a bit naff if done wrongly.

Thanks ash_scotland88, At the moment those floating things react to a mouse click, but I'm working on them moving in some clever way as the mouse passes over them, They will be more of a background thing though when I have some kind of artist picture and the music player on the home page. Good thinking with the Ashley Best button to home page - I'm on it....

Very nice minimalist/clean design. You got a good thing going dont mess around too much with it! Also the balls are nice and all but seem too gimmicky. How about something like hrmm how do i explain it

ahh i know: See when you press you hand/fingers on an lcd screen it "ripples" Maybe do something like that except with colour or smt? Or a tracing effect with mouse movement. A sort of "water surface" effect? Change the mouse pointer to a finger and you can make water ripples in it? So it seems the screen is water. Maybe also could then change the conditions from a) calm b) raining (see water droplets hitting the water) c) sunny d) stormy

If thats too difficult just change the balls so that you can manipulate/move them more with the mouse pointer.

or what about a weird kinda mandelbrot thing? zooming in with the mouse button.

any i like the design really good :thumbs up:

I loathe flash websites, but from a design point of view your site is lovely.

There are problems with it, but they've all been mentioned above, so I just thought I'd add my appreciation.
