I'm thinking about redesigning my website.
The one I have was knocked up quickly from a template.
I have gone more technical now rather then design, not that I was ever that good at design.

Whats the 'thing' at the moment?
Are we rounded corners or square?
Gradients, multiple borders or whats going on.

Also how much of a pain is it going to be sort or re branding my original site has green on it and blue, which in hind site looks a bit 'bright' .

Thanks

Current things are:

- 100% width fixed-image backgrounds
- Mobile-style menus (three-line icon with dropdown)
- Clean typography, ie white or black straight on the background with no container or backing colour
- Bold colours and no gradients
- Square containers a la Windows 8
- Large one-liner headers

It's all subjective on industry of course, but that's what I'd say.

Just too add too this recently I have noticed/designed/programmed sites including;

- Lots of nice animations, e.g. hover animations on buttons, images. Things moving on. http://tympanus.net/codrops/2014/06/19/ideas-for-subtle-hover-effects/
- Parallax scrolling
- Sticky navigation, side bars, navigations that change as you scroll e.g. Stars of huge and shrinks/ or changes colours.
- Scroll spy
- icons for all the things mostly using font-awesome

Its all web2, bootstrap and fullscreen design. If you go in more details recently everything you design should be responsive :)
