Website Revamp - Suggestions?

I've been asked to revamp a website for a friend. The design is quite old now, and the site isn't up to todays standards, EG meta tags need adding, coding needs tidying up and so on.

He'd like to carry on using the dark red colour scheme, but just freshen things up and get it a bit more modern looking.

Any similar radio sites/ideas you guys have? Really stuck on this one, can't seem to get any inspiration at all!

Some suggestions would be great.

The scroll on the navigation, I think has to go somehow. It's the kind of thing which people find annoying.

get some new fonts for the titles as I had trouble reading them

Also not a big fan of fixed-size sites like that. If people have a big monitor, let them see more.

Looking at the galleries and stuff, it looks like a chav website tbh, and I gladly won't be visiting it again

As for the design, as said the scroll on the navigation is a big nono. The navigation should be clearly displayed and should be very easy to find.
The text in the header is way over done, take all those bevels out, and find some decent fonts.
