Website Template - Constructive Criticism Wanted

Nice design.

My only thoughts are that I'd move the 'Try it free' link above the login so it's more obvious. And I'd also make the top bar slightly slimmer as it's taking up a lot of space - and there's a big gap in the top right. Also maybe make the font of the tabs 0.1/0.2em smaller.

Other than that - good job :)

Very nice overall. Just a few observations:

- You've rounded all corners with the exception of the lower right two buttons, which stand out as not being in keeping
- You've mixed capitalisation on buttons, using just lower case on the login button, but capitalised first letters on the black navigation
- I'm not sure if the text needs some gradient, readjusting, or the tabs resizing slightly, but there's something not quite right about the text on the black nav tabs
- Maybe try a slightly transparency or blurring of the black/white indent lines, they're a bit crisp at the moment
- The login box seems very large, but the design is nice

Very promising, keep us updated!

Not many people can read Latin - i'd get that changed.
Also the PlexiPanel diagonal text all over the page makes it really hard to read.

Nice design there, Nitrojan.

The only thing I can think of here, is the "PlexiPanel" repeated text across the entire content area. I would personally reduce the opacity a little bit more, as it clashes ever so slightly with the text.

The reason I say this is my sister is dyslexic, and her weakness is with the colour of text and backgrounds - she would really struggle to read the text particularly the text which is at the darker end of the gradient. Either removing the text and replacing it with subtle pattern, or just the gradient on it's own would be good.

A small thing, I know, however, accessibility is important.

Keep it up though, fantastic design as already said.

Hope this helps.

I'm sure he'll have a button that will allow users to toggle it on or off ;)

OP: overall, it's modern-looking and there's a good highlight area - though I'd include the "try it for free!" button in that area.

Login section is too big, yes. Well, it might be - we don't know the target audience.

The pointy-down triangle isn't symmetrical.

Could really do with a footer, for a more obvious "end of the page!" signal.

Personally, I don't see the point of designing something without purpose or content - it's like being asked to design a bus without knowing how many passengers it should carry - but there you go.

It's good Photoshop practice, I suppose, so if that's your intent: more power to your elbow :)

Im assuming you mean the bit where the features are when you say 'highlight area'? :p

Well, yeah - the entire black top of the site is the highlight area.

It totally dominates the user's first impression, so it kinda makes sense to use that area to highlight something :p

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that it's just a watermark on his design so that we don't rip it?

Looks much better with the footer.

I also agree with moving the try it button. The highlight area is most definitely the first thing users will notice so it would make sense to have it there.

Really don't understand the need for watermarking though. I could just recreate the design in about 10 minutes and assume most here could easily do the same.

Nice, much improved! Personally I wouldn't tweak it any more until you have some populated pages and content, to see how it looks in use.

With regards to watermarking, I can fully understand that. Someone copying an idea is one thing, but having a pixel for pixel ripoff of your hard work is painful. I always watermarked my template previews.

Ah, you actually do have some sort of brief! My earlier comment is irrelevant, and should be dismissed as the ramblings of a sad old embittered designer :D

Regarding the panel: It's plain, but then again it's clear - info seems logically displayed. No need for much graphical frippery if it gets in the way of the information :)

I'd be tempted to have a task-appropriate word underneath each of the top-right-hand button icons. I remember reading the results of a study that showed this combination is the sweet spot.
