Hi some one wants to buy an old domain name I bought ages ago and I haven't a clue how much its worth.

I know its worth what someone will pay etc but what do think a starting figure/range would be?

All your registration costs for starters. Do you have any idea of who this person is or more importantly what they plan to do with the domain?

Ask them to make an offer first, see what they come back with. Personally I haven't got a clue how much a domain like that would be worth.

As you said it's only worth what someone is willing to pay. It's a two word domain, reg'd for 7 years. Not particularly high traffic searches. The words are computer centric ie RAM springs to mind but has potential for other uses. Probably most valuable to a business with that name.

Based on similar domain sales I personally (imo) would value it at £50-£75 not included Nominet fees. As the floor appears to fallen of the bottom of UK domains recently. Also consider how much is it worth to you, to sell? Be honest with yourself come up with a figure you would be happy to accept and either go in with that and stick to it or go above and be prepared to haggle.

If you request them to make an offer expect a lowball reply. IMO it's always better as a seller advertising a domain for sale to have a figure ready.

But try Acorn Domains forum for appraisals it's by far the most popular UK Domain discussion forum and there are many people far more knowledgeable than me.

randomaccess.com redirects to rxs.com a web development site. If you knew it was they who where after the name you could start in the thousands. I tend to agree with the low $xxx to high $xx at face value for selling so an opening offer from you at $3-500 may attract a counter offer in the right region.

Thanks for all the replies.

He says its for a low budget film and gave me a link to previous work

You would be better off asking a professional really - When I used to buy/sell websites, I used NamePros.com or Digitalpoint.com. They both have domain appraisal forums as far as I know.

Thanks Ill try them too

I also own random-access.co.uk so may be ill offer that one at a low price keeping the other as I think its quite a cool name

cheers thats all been a lot of help
