Does anyone know of any popular sites/forums listing websites for sale? I've already looked at webhostingtalk, webmaster-talk and a number of others but with limited success - they're all kids selling sites with no traffic or useful content for pocket money :(.

I'm specifically looking to purchase image and video hosting sites if anyone knows of any for sale :).

wrong end of the stick yeh? *runs off crying*

original post:

If you're a good advertiser and marketing man you could make or break a site, a member on here has made www.filevend.com which looks like a great idea, nice and simple but will it succeed? Also the one month hosting for www.image-upload.org is from a member on here which is good imo.

A user in the past here created www.uploadit.org which turned out well for him as he managed to sell the site for quite a nice price if i remember correctly but I think currently there are a mass amount of them about, all of which you've got to consider as competition. Obviously Youtube is the largest site of this this caliber at the moment, which offers 'web 2.0' lol, interaction and user friendliness - are you trying to compete with this? or just a pure simple uploader? I think your own venture might be better to consider, as it probably doesn't take a lot to produce the basics.

This is probably a pointless post but meh, just what I thought had to be said, :)

Your post is very amusing but I can't work out if you did it intentionally? Sorry if I'm being a little slow this evening :p.

How did I miss sedo? Told you I was being slow tonight ;). Thanks.

I'm dying to know if Randomtom is pulling my leg or not.

Could be amusing if he isn't joking. :p
me = *wooooooosh* :o :(

i was just wondering why you didn't just make your own, and was talking about the competition out there if you intend to make anything of it, that's why i didnt mention sedo or anything :(

Just a very amusing coincidence then ;).

Filevend is the site I'm trying to promote by (in theory) purchasing some of the competition and redirecting their sites to mine. UploadIt is the site that I created and sold around 2 years ago generating in total around £18,000 in revenue which funded stage 1 expansion of my dedicated hosting business. Image-upload.org is one of the sites I have my eye on but the owner has turned down my offer :(.

Edit: No need to edit your post, I was only kidding! Sorry.

Just made a preliminary offer on a site via sedo. Thanks Beansprout :).

I doubt they'll accept as it's very low but I'm not prepared to pay thousands for a site which generates no revenue in its current state.

It's primarily a testbed and feasibility study for something much grander. If it has the added bonus of being profitable in its own right, so be it. The site is just a shell at the moment - there's loads more work to do before it's finished.

if you need any logo's doing, i'll help

Thanks :)

Edit: Any more suggestions?

Heheee it makes it even funnier that RandomTom didn't realise :D :D

If anything the odds are stacked in Adz's favour in that he has a few Gbit/sec available to him for very little cost, so it should be fun :D

Edit: Sitepoint.com perhaps? There's a paid site selling section so in theory that cuts out some of the crap. Linky :)

Would it be worth cheekly emailing competitor sites to see if they want out?

I cheekily bought the .com of my domain by offering $100. Got it for $150 in the end, which I was delighted with. Don't underestimate the value of waving some cash in someone's face for something they don't use or can't see a use for. :)

Nice one. It's always worth trying anyway.
